After you check the kittens at the pet store, please look for us on Adopt-A-Pet and Petfinders. You might see just the right new friend in our listings there.

Occasionally we have kittens which have special needs and cannot be adopted out through Duncan Pets. Sometimes it is a health issue but more often it is a kitten who is just that bit too shy to be comfortable with all the strange people and other critters in the store. These kittens may be adopted out from their cat foster homes and their cost might be adjusted to reflect their special needs.
Finally, we are always looking for people who have a place where very shy or wild cats can be relocated here in the Cowichan Valley. “Barn cats” are spayed/ neutered and vaccinated and are placed free of charge, but we do insist on inspecting the premises and supervising the set up before delivering the cats. Yes, that is “cats” – we do not send barn cats out without a friend or two to keep them company. Everybody is happier that way.
We have several groups of cats and older kittens waiting for a farm or warehouse home to become available. The family of a mom and three kittens we had posted on Facebook has been relocated to a farm home but another family of three kittens is on its third colony feeder waiting to find a new place to live. Yet another group of three young adult cats has been waiting since Spring for a new home. All of these are in places that are no longer safe due to changing property uses and all will eventually be at risk of being killed if not relocated.
In addition to these there are several older kittens in foster care who have not become tame enough to be adopted out through the pet store. These, too, need special homes with patient and loving people, either as indoor pets for someone willing to devote a few months to taming them or to people with warm dry barns with a few mice or rats to liven up life for the kitties..

Cats for Adoption
We have a whole new group of “special needs” kittens looking for homes. These are kitties who can not be placed in the pet store where people can see them, but must be adopted out from their foster home. If you have room in your heart and in your home for an older kitten, up to six or seven months, and with minor health or social issues, please call us or send an e-mail and we can arrange for you to see pictures or to meet the kittens. We have some real beauties!
“Milwaukee” is a plain little grey tabby cat with a crooked tail, who came to us with a litter of kittens she was raising outdoors. The kittens are long gone, but she is still with us, waiting for someone who prefers a loving little cat to a cute and fuzzy little kitten. Milwaukee was a skinny and grumpy little thing when she arrived but she is now downright chunky and has a very different purrsonality! She has decided that beds are for sleeping on, and are even better if there is a person in the bed who can be convinced to wake up and cuddle her for a while in the night.
Bobby Blue has a new home!
And don’t forget that we have more kittens coming in daily, so if you or anyone you know is looking for a kitten, it is well worth watching Duncan Pets for new arrivals.
Barn Cats AvailableThese little barn cats are no longer available, but we have two colonies that have lost their habitat and need to be moved in order to survive. We also have some more wild kittens, a bit too old to tame but young enough to need a safe place to live.
