Volunteering with Cowichan Cat Rescue
There are lots of opportunities to volunteer throughout the year with Cowichan Cat Rescue. We need volunteers at special events, for fundraising, for helping with cats and kittens, with raising awareness and education of the public.
In 2010 and 2011 we have had wonderful volunteers! People have helped with trapping, have had fund raisers on our behalf, have donated goods to our sales and have helped sort those donated goods and helped to sell them. People have fostered kittens and have delivered them to their vet appointments and cared for them when they were sick. People cooked and served and cleaned up for our Spay-ghetti dinner and worked unbelievably hard making the craft fair and the Spay-ghetti dinner into hugely successful events! People have gathered cat food and other goods for our ferals, have made shelters for outdoor cats, and have taken on the responsibility for feeding the feral cats they have found. More people than ever have taken their recyclables to the Bottle Depot and donated the proceeds to Cowichan Cat Rescue, and others donated scrap metal to the scrap drive we were fortunate enough to have at Steel Pacific in the summer. There have been so many wonderful people helping us out in so many different ways!
As Cowichan Cat Rescue grows there are more and more opportunities to help.
With the addition of the Pepsi Low Cost Spay/Neuter Program, we need even more help. We need people to drive cats to and from clinics, people to pick up and deliver publicity materials and application forms and maybe some people to help some of hte clients through the application process.
Our annual Garage Sale always needs a ton of help, from people to gather donations through set up, sales, and clean up. The 2011 garage sale was a wonderful success. We will be trying to do even better in 2012!
The Craft Fair and the Spay-Ghetti Dinner both need many volunteers to make them run smoothly. Please call if you are interested in helping out with what has become our biggest fundraiser of the year.
PENNY DRIVE! A perfect volunteer opportunity, especially for kids! We will be collecting pennies all of 2012, in honour of the end of the Canadian penny. EVERYONE seems to have a stack of pennies somewhere in their home. Find them and collect them for Cowichan Cat Rescue. We will have buckets available at Duncan Pets to collect the pennies and we will have a sign up sheet for anyone who brings in pennies, so we can put their names in a draw for a fabulous prize. Spread the word!
Would you like to volunteer and make a difference in the life of a cat? There are so many ways to help!
If so, we would sure love to hear from you. You may contact us through our contact page, or you can come up and talk to us personally at any of our events. No matter what, we look forward to meeting and working with you!
